The caption says "near" Lobato. It is actually a mile east of Lobato at MP 339. The structures in the back ground belonged to a outfit called "Lobo Lodge". They still stand today, but are owned by big not-so-friendly group that has built some expensive homes in the area. At one time at this location, there was a short spur on the uphill side of the track called "Dalton". It was used to load logs cut up the Chama River from here.
The present-day "Dalton" is located upgrade to the right of the picture at the Forest Service Road Crossing. In the 1980's we would put late-arriving passengers on the train at this crossing. It needed a name, so I suggested the name of the spur that used to be right around the corner. A sign was made, I painted and lettered in my back yard. We hauled it up there in Gary Getman's pickup truck, and planted it. At the same time I created the station sign for Sublette, that still stands there.
