Re: Buildings on the eastside of Marshall Pass

As an aside, these structures were still upright and in one piece in about 1978 according to Jerry Day. He said they didn't last much longer because some "RR souvenir hunter" came up with a saw and cut out the "button" Rio Grande herald out of the end of one of the buildings. My guess is that after Gus Latham (last Postmaster at Marshall Pass who owned the bunk houses and outbuildings after RR abandonment) died the County assumed the property. (Maybe Charlie or Hank can chime in here with their knowledge of genealogy?) Once folks started to steal things and the buildings fell into disrepair, the NFS probably did like they seemed to always do and raze the hell out of everything and wiped the area clean without a trace. Just a guess. Cool photo Rich :-)
