Hi Kevin,
Your point is well taken, it's why I'm not on FB. We are not thrilled about how FB treats non-members (or even members) but it's their company so we have little control.
The good part is that it reaches a broad spectrum of people and helps promote the WW&F Railway.
Example:
News posts about locomotive or rolling stock projects are seen and liked by mostly male viewers, about 95%. Most are over 40.
Posts about family events such as Christmas trains or sleigh rides are liked / shared by mostly female viewers, about 98% and most are under 40.
Since mothers are often the ones who plan family outings, it's a good fit for letting families know what WW&F events are coming.
As I noted before, I am not on FB, never will be but it has been a good marketing tool for the railroad.
FB is just a part of the mission to support our mission of rebuilding a narrow gauge railway.
The web site and newsletter are important and all work together to show people what the WW&F is about.
