Back in the days when the Canadian National was operating the narrow-gauge in Newfoundland there were problems near Gaff Topsail with the wind blowing over freight cars in trains. The CN hired a local fellow to keep track of the winds in the area and notify the company when he felt they were too strong for train movements.
