Re: narrow gauge in ostrich country

Just finished the amazing chapter on the Oudtshoorn - Klipplaat line. Simply incredible photos. . My brother and I chased it in 1979, not aware how close we came to the end of steam on that line (November 1979). Realizing that this narrow gauge is FAR from Colorado/New Mexico, I'm still giving in to the temptation of offering a couple of my favorite shots of the Port Elizabeth-Capetown passenger train at dawn approaching Oudtshoorn. Shortly a 4-8-2 + 2-8-4 GMAM garrat will take over for the climb over Montagu Pass.
