Whoa guys...

The LAVA tank burned in 1971, supposedly by someone doing what Olaf did a few years earlier - taking a picture, only supposedly the photographer was seen with a ciggie in his gob when he was up there. The frozen Antonito tank was dismantled and reassembled up at Lava. A small internal tank installed inside.

The Antonito Tank is modern construction installed in the late 1970's when the yard was rebuilt and the new depot constructed.

Why is the access hatch on the track side? Because it was designed by someone who didn't work for a railroad and didn't fathom the idea one would need to get up there an repair it.

(EDIT) I didn't read far enough... Senor Coal got it straightened out. I need more coffee....
