Casey Carlson, where are you? Casey has interviewed a man that is perhaps the last of the old hoggers that worked for either SVRy or OLC. In this case he worked for OLC. Casey told me that the old gentleman said the OLC 103 which was a small Heisler had to have special short wood cut. My impression is that the std. length supplied to all the wood burning locomotives was 4'. They used what they call "grousers" to plug the back end of the fire box next to the door sheet. Grousers were/are just short pieces of wood perhaps a foot long or so.
