When I was pondering the question, my first thought was perhaps there might be an unknown or secret genius (at least unknown to Anglo fans) whose influence and design skills produced the “faros grandes de motor de vapor.” As I recall, the same tendency in head lamps ran all through central and south America, too. I was not even sure of the manpower history in south of the border rail lines — how they translated mechanical needs into standard engineering results on their engines.
