You might be thinking of Al Lyons.
A couple of other NG photogs I liked were Hastings, and John Krause.
I think all the patrons over NG excursions and such over the years of the 50's and 60's also contributed to the C&TS getting saved. There were a lot of clubs as well and regular railffans who also contributed just by being there, and showing interest. The D&S had an ongoing business that was doing well when Bradshaw bought it circa 1980. On the other hand when the C&TS was born in 1970 they had next to nothing. One engine barely running, an ex-D&RGW engineer, no coaches, no turning facility in Antonito, but lots of volunteers, plus help from the states of course. Lots of people volunteered over the years.
