#473 started the Trains Unlimited charter on October 8, 2003 with the box headlight painted yellow. When we reached Cascade Wye at mid-day, a brush and a can of black paint appeared. While we finished lunch, the paint was applied. When the paint had dried, white numbers were applied to the number board.
In my opinion, the box headlight looked better in black (even shiny black) than in yellow. However, the box headlight overwhelms the front of the engine. I would have preferred the stock visored light that #473, sisters, and cousins have worn for years.
