I was cleaning off my laptop while flying to Milwaukee tonight and ran across a number of Andy Payne's slides I'd scanned several years back and never did anything with. Thought this one might be interesting, and I'd see if anybody like Earl had tidbits they could add about what happened. It looks like 498 hit some ice or maybe a soft spot/broken rail on a trip down to Farmington around Jan 7, 1966. The notes on the slide frame put this near milepost 455, between Carbon Jct. and Posta. I've searched and can't find anything about this one in the archives, and by all appearance it was a minor incident.
Must not have damaged much, as I have other slides of 498 back in service only a few weeks later.
