So 3 years ago, after some trials, we bought a little hydraulic tamper machine from a french company. It is very efficient, and is custom build to our needs around two chinese made hydraulic groups (price was €12.0000 if you mind). It can be built for any gauge since the tamper units are independent, only the chassis changes. If we had the time to source the parts directly from China, cost would have been lower, but we lacked the resources to import these.
