Yeah, I drive (drove) heavy haul/oversize across greater North America, that's why I was asking.
My signature mentions 6.5 time zones, that's Alaska Standard Time to Newfoundland Standard Time (which, curiously, is 30 minutes ahead of Atlantic Standard Time instead of an hour).
Thanks for the answers, and, the laws vary state by state. Each state requires a permit, although in some western states, you can get "group" permits covering 3-4 states.
The main advantage of >10' loads is that in most western states, you can run at night with a couple extra lights.
