Engine No. 1 of the narrow gauge Tanana Valley Railroad, a mighty 7-ton 0-4-0 Porter, has passed its boiler hydrostatic test and is scheduled for steam-up on Saturday, July 1. Except for a brief test run last summer, this will be the first operation of the locomotive since 1923. The locomotive was the first in the Yukon Territory and the first in Interior Alaska. It resides in Fairbanks.
