I’ll take this idea a little further. Over all there is one less K37 tender than locomotive. So instead of building an oil tank to drop into the coal bunker, why not just build a new tender that has the same shape but is specifically built for oil and water? The capacity would be slightly greater with the whole design being purposeful from the start. For the short term, build a new cistern and place it on the frame and then build a new frame and trucks (they are standard gauge trucks, right?) for the saved cistern and place it behind the ‘98 while she sits there in the yard.
