Ha! I thought the same thing. Per our rules after you operate the switch, you either have to move to the opposite side of the track or at least 50 feet from the switch stand. One too many eager brakemen have lined switches under trains by being too close to the switch. I heard a story once about a drowsy brakeman who had reversed a siding switch late one night while waiting for a meet. A little while later, hearing the approaching train, he panicked about the position of the switch and lined it back for straight-rail - right in front of the approaching train resulting in a slow-speed head-on.
