I first visited the site in 1977. By then, there were no standing buildings, but there were foundations. Unfortunately, I didn't have the good sense to take a lot more pictures than I did. I am sadly missing location shots. One thing I remember clearly is how marshy the area was. I mentioned that to Art Gibson, a local rail historian who saw the RGS when it was an actual railroad, and he said, yes, that was an issue when the RGS was still there. I'm surprised I haven't read anything about that. The fact that the yard was in a wetland may be a saving grace. These pictures were made in another marshy area south of the mystery circle in what I would guess to be the yard leading to the engine house. If this gets saved, I think you can thank environmentalists.
Notice all the pink flags in the open area. The mystery circle is past the line of bushes in front of the warehouse-looking brown building. It had no flags.
