Charlie replied to me off list with some very good thoughts and basically he and I are in agreement about "second-guessing" the current priorities for the C&TS. He has some very good thoughts about what we, as railfans, can do to help the C&TS. His thoughts are applicable to other worthwhile preservation efforts such as the SVRY, the EBT, etc, etc. I suggested he consider posting those ideas at the appropriate time. Thanks for the email, Charlie.
