John,
I'll try to remember tomorrow at work to bring home one of the older catalogs I purchased and took in for reference.
I need to start cleaning out my personal stuff as I'm retiring in a month. I've got catalogs back to the 1920s and other books (one general one about waterworks that dates from 1890!).
The fitting would have been sand cast and probably thick wall for the pressure needed to get the water up the hill to the tank. Static water pressure would be height difference (in feet) x .433 lbs/sq-in per foot.
