The John W. Barriger, III Library is digitizing their photo collection and posting it to Flickr. Among the files are the builder's photos from American Car and Foundry.
This caught my eye earlier and I thought it might be of some interest to the group.

It appears to be a very simple skeleton log car built for the Crawley Lumber Co. in 1923. A brief search I did via Google, suggests the company started in 1920 and was headquartered in Richmond, VA.
I'm surprised they'd go to the trouble of ordering something like this from a builder as it would appear to be a simple thing to build in house.
