Last October we camped up on the ridge south of Sublette, that ridge is prone to lightning strikes as we saw more than 20 strikes in one night, hitting trees, brush and the ground, it rained so hard that nothing started on fire, I can see it being a problem in the summer though, there are many dead trees around this area. And many dead from the pine beetle infestation. I hope that they don't shut down the forest areas as these make for some great photos with the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad and the Durango and Silverton Railroad.
