The Ibex branch was standard gauge (was narrow gauge until 1917) but the Howe bridges lasted until the end of operations in 1944. There was one still around in the 80s, it was gone when I made my first visit there in 2000. Ibex branch was an awesome piece of railroading, snow sheds, two switch backs, double horseshoe loops, 4 per cent grades, highest point on the D&RGW system, Rotary O70, Snow Dozer 043, and Jordan Spreader 044 used in snow removal operations.
