Veronica and I met Doug in 1995 when he came to Chama and stayed with us at the B&B we were running (Bush's Bunk & Beans). He was a joy to talk to and was very helpful including running to Pagosa Springs to help get some other guests the licenses they needed for a hunt they were supposed to be on. He also picked up some supplies at the Chama Valley Supermarket for a special meal Veronica was cooking. While he was at the store she had him paged to add a couple of ingredients she had forgotten. He said that getting paged by name made him feel like part of the family.
There was a funny incident that occurred while he was here involving the fireman, the engineer, the 497, and Doug but thats a story for another time.
We enjoyed knowing him and will miss him.
