Track work fumes

I rode the G&Q first in1976, and then in 2003. In 1976 it was still in some semblance of repair and could get trains from one end to the other. By 2003 it was a series of unconnected sections because of the track becoming impassable. Here is what passed for track maintenance in 2003.

My title for this one is "how many people does it take to fill a tender tank?": By 2003 the railroad was little more than a make work social program.

Today it as been rehabilitated and is hauling high end tourist trains, with very uncertain economics. It may still be a make work social program, but at least based on pix I have seen the track is a lot better.
