William, if you go back through the archives this was posted before. I remember seeing it. There are three parts by the same guy. I contacted someone who contacted them about using the footage, but no dice. I know my transfer guy could make the stuff look much better. I also can tell the footage is running at about 10-20% too fast from what it should be. A better transfer would fix that, sharpness, and colors. It is nicely shot footage. Now to the other question. What is the actual date. You said the beginning of the last freight run. That isn't quite right, cause the last run was with 483 and 484, the one Russ Sperry shot. I think there were 5 complete trips in 1968, and 493 was only used 2 or 3 runs. Would have to look up my notes.
It is possible this was the June 4th run, and the one we chased on June 5th had this same pair with the empties brought over from Durango by 498. We shot 498 departing Chama that morning. If you have our Last Steam Freights 1968 there is a train departing Chama on June 5th, and it would be the same consist as shown in the above video, if in fact it is run on that date. If not check other dates in the video that were shot by Ernie Robert, and you could probably nail down the exact date of the video clip above!!!
If it was June 4th, 1968 it would have been the first run to Chama on freight that was other than the pair of K-28's in the so-called Mad Dash that ran doubleheader to Chama.
