ALMONT PICNIC FOURTH DREW GREAT CROWD
Almont was the abode of gaiety on the Fourth. A good share of the population of Gunnison, Crested Butte and surrounding countryside seems to have adopted this lovely mountain spot as a celebration point from year to year. The college folks were out bright and early, 352 of them taking the Almont special at 8:00 o’clock. With a fare of 75 cents for the round trip, the railroad got $264 for rustling five old coaches and two rubberneck cars to transport the people. Regular fare is 60 cents one way, which ought to show the railroad officials in Denver that the public responds to a live proposition and fair treatment.
