It's been tried. Back in 2011, Pete Lerro hired a rancher to bring his cattle to the Osier Stock Pens, where we would stage a loading scene with a stock train. Everything went great until we tried the loading part. The problem was that the cows had other ideas....or perhaps they thought this was a for-real ride to Burger King:
Arriving at the Stock Pens
Round 'em up?
The rancher tried mightily, but could not get any of these guys to even approach the loading chute. I suppose that back in the day, more extreme measures would have been applied, but we had no intention of harming any animals in the making of these photos.
It has been my experience that bringing animals into scenes with phraudo-freights (TM) fails much more often than it succeeds.
