Montezuma Lumber Company Railroad
Try this one out. The link should now work. I had to make the map in Google Maps and not Google Earth.
Here is a map of the Montezuma Lumber Company (New Mexico Lumber Company) Logging railroad I created in Google Earth. The link is for the desktop version of Google Maps. It is close to being completed but it is missing the yards at McPhee and a few spurs that I saw in my process of mapping out the line, but not have included in the file yet. As well as reworking the Long Draw spur as well. I hope you enjoy looking at it. I used topography maps and the map that was included in The R.G.S. Story Volume 7. If anyone know of any missing spurs that they are willing to point out, I would love to be able to add it to my map to make it more complete. Thank you!
I strive to locate the former ROW as close as possible on Google Earth, due to the way Google Earth displays its visual data some distortion and other variations such as land height are not accurate as they would be in reality. However if you were to use these maps in the field, I guarantee that it will place you with in 5 feet on either side of the center line of the ROW.
We have witnessed valley
and plain and crest,
Canon and pass we've scanned;
We have seen the best
of the glorious West,
by the trail of the Rio Grande
