Hi Lee! You missed about 35 years where I continued to collect photos and information on movie trains and visited most of the places they were filmed. At the same time, I had a wonderful life (I hope yours has been good, too!). My new books are "The Movie Railroads" on steroids. Lots of new content and some really great photos.
The planned hardcover book you see on the back cover of "The Movie Railroads" (which was titled "The Railroad Films" at that time) has continued to progress slowly and is still a few years away. It's starting to come together, with a new title, a really large package of research, and lots (and lots) of photos in the files, waiting to tell the story of trains in films from the 1890s to the present in pictures and prose. First, there are two more volumes coming in the "Hollywood's Railroads" series after Sierra Railroad is published in February. I've also got a softcover in the works about the trains in Spain used in Spaghetti Westerns. It focuses on a few locomotives that the Spanish national railway (RENFE) kept for use by filmmakers. One of those locos is still active and has been described to me by a friend in Italy as "Europe's Sierra #3."

I hope this answers your questions!
