Of course Marshall Pass was hard to chase on.
East side: Really only Salida-(perhaps) Shirley possible.
West side: Not much more than a couple of miles East from Sargent.
Summit: Road from Shirley to summit (via Poncha Creek) was very rough & completly out of sight of tracks for the most part.
There's a reason why pictures of trains on Marshall are fairly rare, esp after the Shavano ended in 1940, compared to most other parts of the then existing narrow gauge. A lot of action, but hard to get to good spots.
