The two classes of Tiffany reefers, 26' built in the DSP&P shops in 1880 (12 cars) and 27' cars built by St Charles in 1883 (15 cars) were passed though the various companies... 25 of the 27 made it to the C&S. Any on hand in 1902 or so would have had to be rebuilt to comply with the Safety Appliances act... 12 were still on the roster in 1908, with the last 5 being retired in 1923.... At least one body was set on the ground at Leadville as a shed...
The C&S purchased new 30' cars from St Charles in 1898 (wood underframe) and again about 1908 (steel underframe, wooden body)
