With an underground depot, Earl?
It would have been easier just to forget about rebuilding the big curved trestle at Ophir and put the tail of a switchback alongside the highway fill northwest of Ophir. A southbound train would pull northwest past Ophir and then run backwards up along the old r.o.w. to Matterhorn. Then the line would deviate from the original again by ending the switchback and having a u-turn back southeast toward Trout Lake. If there's not enough room for the tail of the switchback and a u-turn at Matterhorn, you'd have to back all the way past the dam, and then run forward across the dam and around the lake to Lizard Head.
Where there's a will (or a Willie), there's a way!!
- Sincerely,
Willie (Wm. Claude Johnson-Barr III, Esq.)
