The western railroads made a difference between chair cars and coaches. Chair cars as shown and coaches have the straight back flop-over seats. That is why the western roads would say in the timetables and
Official Guide identify both kinds of seating or just one or the other.
Parlor cars usually required payment of a first class fare and a seat charge -- just like for overnight travel in a sleeping car. Which brings up an other interesting facet of railroad travel; day seats in Pullman cars were often sold instead of having a parlor car on the train.
