The pic of 476 was taken while trying to re-rail it in April, 1952 up on Hermosa Hill. They must of tore her up pretty bad, as eventually it was sent east to Alamosa for repairs the Durango forces could not deal with.

Spreader OU has what amounts to flanger blades on its front. It works more long the lines of a modern day ballast regulator. A locomotive pilot plow would be much more effective in plowing snow.
