Rich, there are many people who stepped up to the plate first to save the railroad from the scrappers torch, and then later at critical times in the CATS history. The first group of saviors have their names on two bronze plaques with the photos of some of them in both the Chama and Antonito depots. The Friends didn't come into being until in the mid 1980's when Bill Lock started showing up with some of his 'friends' to do what they could to help preserve the equipment. If you look inside the CRF building in Antonito there is a small list of people who made contributions to help make that building a reality, as well as photos of that first group that worked there.
I believe Tim Tennant will make an announcement soon about the way the Friends are going to honor Ed for his decades of service to both the Friends and to the railroad.
