I thought for sure this was the Erpeler Ley tunnel portal on the far bank at Remagen, but apparently it isn't.





Rebuilding the line wasn't part of the Marshall plan, it seems, so they decided to abandone the entire rail line out of Remagen under the Erpeler Ley. They even ripped out the stone supports as a navigation hazard in the 70s, if memory serves.

If you ever want to get desensitized for castles, the Rhine valley is the place for that. You'll "Ooh and ah" for the first few, then within an hour or so, you won't even notice them anymore.
