The D&S installed a nonlifting injector on the left side. The injector was made in China. Other than being too big for the engine, it worked well. The Chinese Gun had about 5000 gal/hr capacity, twice what the injectors on the 480's have. You could trim it back to where you needed it to be climbing the hill out of Chama, but running west from Antonito, was an "on and off" deal that was a bit of a pain.
Eventually the nozzles wore out. We contacted the outfit that imported the injector (the Valley RR in CT) about replacement parts. They didn't carry any spare parts, but were glad to sell us a new injector for a significant sum. At that point Jack decided to put a Simplex back on the left side.
