your posts are the nuts and bolts stuff that I enjoy even more so on this section of line, the old Mainline. Way back in the mid-80's I got out of H0n3 changing to 0n3, sold my stock to a good friend who after reading some articles on Marshall Pass operation and layout construction wanted to model that.
I had the excellent CRRA #8 on the Black Canon Revisited and due to the fascinating variety of smaller power working that line with short freight consists, talked him into the Gunnison to Montrose instead. We spent many hours pouring over my book collection to figure out from the photos, just how the D&RGW did that Hill operation.
If only we could have had access to the DPL digitally and your data back then; would have answered an awful lot of questions we had on the working of the Stock traffic, both of us working for NZR at the time had just seen the last of the Livestock handling on our rural secondary mainline and both wished we had been part of that.
