Boxcar 3537, converted from PBox (Passenger Boxcar) 202
When the Cumbres&Toltec first opened, old box cars were cut into rider cars, before our more civilized passenger car fleet was built.
The Friends of the Cumbres&Toltec have been restoring these boxcars as time and hardware become available. The 3537 had special modifications to allow photographers to sit inside, and, pass through the ends to the rest of the train, so that multiple cabooses weren't required on charter photography trains.
The work was completed by a volunteer group in 6 work weeks, out in the open yard.
Finished boxcar photos by Mike Allen.
