You bring up a good point about quality. These thieves do a quick copy, sometimes from a tv using a camcorder, and the quality suffers. Being from the 30's you are dealing with old quality to start with, so it will suffer. I bought this video back in the 80's for my dad for Christmas. It is amazing all this footage exists. RGS and other vintage material does not grow on trees. I believe Sunday River is still in business, although Alva Morrison has passed away. He was one of the video pioneers who always shot on 16mm film, and dubbed in sounds he sometimes recorded, or got elsewhere. Not always the best looking or sounding, but he was doing all this before tape and dvd's. He used to sell copy films for home buyers. You would buy an 8mm or super 8 film and play it on your projector. We are talking 1970's and earlier now! If I see guys bootlegging our material I contact them to remove it, or contact youtube. If they want to reshow our preview clips thats okay but not the content as in a whole show!!! We have had that problem as well. I remember a guy showed our entire DM&IR Yellowstones video which had to be removed. I still do not understand how people can think this stuff is theirs to put on their youtube sites. Youtube is great for uploading the stuff YOU make to share with others, not for taking other folks material and sharing it. Heck you can find TV segments on their, and I wonder how the networks like it. I suppose its so bad they don't even care any more!!!
Hope the RGS trips go well on the C&TS,
Greg
