The newley installed turntable does indeed sit higher than the original by about 5 inches. It pivots on the center bearing and drops about an inch and a half when you run something onto it, meaning that the radial tracks need to be about 3 1/2 inches above the original level. We made up some of the difference by using the lightest rail on hand (45lb) on the turntable, while the radial track into stall 5 is 75lb and thetrack from the depot to the turntable is 56lb.
No modification to the concrete pit will be needed, the difference will be made up either by using thicker timbers than original or placing a bed of mortar below the new timbers to raise them up to the required level. (The pit edge will be lined with timbers)
Considering that the turntable and center bearing came from different sources and had never met each other before being installed in Como, the whole thing came out really well.
