Some of the key points:
- The C&TS would not exist today if it wasn't for the original activists and volunteers who convinced the states to put up the money.
- The C&TS would not exist today if it wasn't for all the dedicated employees and railroad leadership that kept things going when times were tough (when aren't they?)
- The C&TS would not exist today if it wasn't for the desire of the railroad commission over the years to keep finding money to continue on and not sell the rail for scrap.
- The C&TS would not exist today if it wasn't for all the tourists and other paying visitors to the property that economically helped the railroad and communities survive.
- The C&TS would probably exist today if it wasn't for the current volunteer and Friends organization, but it would be different.
That's a perfect storm. Let's plan a 50th anniversary that acknowledges that.
