I found this old thread and thought I might as well to post the information i know about the car. This immigrant sleeper car was used on a Salida wrecker train and was the scene of a murder. The red light district of Salida was particularly booming at the time and the fireman of the train responding to a derailment snuck a young prostitute by the name of Kate onto the train. Long story short the brakeman found out about her and was jealous and knifed the Fireman causing him to bleed out. In turn the conductor came up after hearing all the commotion and threw the brakeman out of the big combine door that it had at the time. Kate later killed herself months later and it has been haunted ever since. The museum curator Jeff Ellingson makes this quite the story and I always check in to see how Kate is doing. According to him during an investigation by some wacko ghost hunters they tried to stay the night and the door (which was wedged open) slammed and locked on them trapping them inside. He also shows quite the collection of photos that people have taken where you can directly see figures as well as some camera footage when in the middle of the night blinding light comes through the windows. If this car isn't haunted I don't know what is. Mr. Ellingson said that they will never restore the car and want to keep it as original as possible, a decision that I respect and agree with entirely. Not everything needs to be restored and some things are best left the way they were without replacing 70% of it.
