Sorry, Clyde -

I tried a couple of variations on that, but they didn't work out too well: adding a 'wing' to the one, whether slanted left (fireman's side) or right (engineer's side), made it look like a seven, and adding a 'wing' to the nine made it look like a small letter 'g'; doing both looked like "7g".  Oh, well, it's only a diseasel anyway – so like Bill Pratt suggested below, just paint it in camouflage (Moffat Green camouflage?) and it'll disappear . . .
