Re: Longest NG Railroad in US and Texas NG questions

I think the longest would have been the Colorado - Utah connection.
From Silver Plume, one could have gone over the loop, to Denver.
Denver to Gunnison, they had two choices. D&RG: Denver - Pueblo - Royal Gorge - Salida and Marshall Pass
Or DSP&P: Denver, Platte Canon, Buena Vista- Chalk Creek, Alpine Tunnel. That would have been my choice.
Then Gunnison to Grand Junction, where one would have transferred to the Denver & Rio Grande Western (Utah), later Rio Grande Western to the Salt Lake City - Ogden
At Ogden one could have gone north on the Utah & Northern, thru Idaho and on to Butte, Montana
All total, somewhere in excess of 2,000 miles
And if one had the means, one could have ridden the whole way on a Pullman car
