Hi,
According to A century + ten freight Cars page 19:
"The locomotives were ordered from Baldwin rather than the recommended Fairlies from England from England because Palmer could trade D&RG bonds at a discount for the home grown product. After completion at the three factories, all this equipment was gathered together and shipped west to Denver on a single train, arriving there on July 26..."
The first narrow gauge equipment arrived in Colorado. Narrow gauge and Colorado seems to be very closely associated today.
