Well Kelly, I just gotta ask...I hope that you are talking about
the injectors and not the locomotive. FWIW, the 36 was considered
the best steam locomotive on the rr, not too surprising since she was
custom built by Alco for them.
As for the vaunted 2-6-6-2 38, she was accepted for what she was,
a stop gap before the diesels. As my friend and former Sierra rr. engineman
Al Shelton is fond of saying, "When she derailed, she'd leave 12 separate tracks
in the mud".
