The line you see to the right of the Ffestiniog line is the British Rail, at the standard gauge of 4 feet eight and one half inches. Of course, I, K, Brunel would have considered Stephenson's 'standard gauge' to be 'narrow gauge,' compared to the Great Western's 7 foot one-quarter inch track gauge.
