The most recent report I have from the Puffing Billy, from yesterday, is that the NGG-16 No. 129 is probably 12 months from completion. That report comes from a friend who is doing project management and engineering work in connection with No. 129's regauging. While I have not visited "Puff," I know that it's a very popular attraction for folks visiting Victoria. It is accessible by suburban commuter trains from Melbourne and operates daily except for Christmas. The area is a popular destination and there are a number of Bed & Breakfast establishments within walking distance of the station at Belgrave and at Menzies Creek. (If you send me a PM, I'll connect you with another friend in the area who runs one.) As for G-42, it is in daily use except when it's down for boiler wash or other required inspections. I do not know about other non-rail activities in the area, but I'm sure there are other attractions.
