Unfortunately this type of irresponsible behavior is a regular occurrence at each and every major steam event including the C&TS. They are not talking somebody else, they are talking about us, if not you personally then somebody you know and probably consider a friend. The idiot is not only putting his life at risk, but endangering each and everyone of us not to mention the general public. It is something that we are way too accepting of. The only way to stop this sort of thing is to put social pressure on the folks who act so irresponsibly. This is one of the reasons nobody wants to sell "chaser" passes, because there is some potential legal liability for encourage some idiot to drive like this. How much it discourages mainline steam operations I have no idea, but it certainly doesn't help. The railroads are extremely liability conscious, and being an attractive nuisance is one way to get sued big time.
